Shukar Hai is Osamah Nasir’s independent project. This endeavour is a result of Osamah’s search amongst many impactful initiatives and projects, for something that truly resonated with him. Tracing said resonance back to his childhood he realized that it’s not a personally identifiable project that he’s looking for, but more so the essence of his parent’s teachings.
His parents were both invested in projects and habits of giving to the communities around them. Generous and grateful by nature in his memory, his parents’ professions were also inherently generous professions of teaching and being a doctor. So supporting others as a means to foster community was always taught in the house as a natural value of the highest importance, even during times when the family had very little for themselves.Whether it was helping someone access education, requesting enrollment for them, or organizing fundraising efforts, the idea of sharing and giving generously to one’s community was always prioritized in every context.
Seven years ago, Osamah’s brother started this farm out of his love for animals. Since then, he has been organizing qurbani every year in the true essence of sacrificing what you love for a greater good. This inspired Osamah to expand their family’s unwavering commitment to giving back and take it to the next level. The brand’s name stems from a deep sense of gratitude inspired by a conversation Osamah overheard as a child, where two children were debating who was richer, and the marker of wealth in their conversation was having access to kaleji (liver). The memory of the two kids stayed with Osamah as a reminder of how perspectives on abundance and gratitude can differ.
The goal is to drive sustainable social change while building a platform that today’s generation trusts by partnering with individuals and organisations dedicated to driving impactful and important change in society.
